My name is Mohamed Mahmoud El-Shazly. I am the Head of Pharmaceutical Biology Department, Faculty of Pharmacy and Bioethanol, the German University in Cairo, Cairo, Egypt. I was graduated from the Faculty of Pharmacy, Ain-Shams University, Cairo, Egypt, with a general grade excellent with honor in 2000. Following graduation, I pursued my postgraduate studies as a teaching and research assistant at the Department of Pharmacognosy at the same institute. After obtaining my postgraduate diploma, I traveled to Germany (Jacobs University Bremen, Bremen, Germany) to pursue my master and PhD studies. In 2006, I received my master’s degree in nanomolecular science, and I was offered a position at the same institute to complete my PhD focusing on the synthesis of pharmaceutical intermediates and natural products. In 2009, I received my PhD and went back to Egypt to join my home institute as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Pharmacognosy, Faculty of Pharmacy, Ain-Shams University. In 2011, I received an offer to work at the Graduate Institute of Natural Products, Kaohsiung Medical University, Kaohsiung, Taiwan. I spent there 2.5 years working as a postdoctoral fellow conducting research in different fields including natural products isolation, structural elucidation, and determination of their biological activity. This postdoctoral experience has assisted me to polish my knowledge and experience through guiding master and PhD students in their research. In 2015, I was promoted to associate professor at the Department of Pharmacognosy, Faculty of Pharmacy, Ain-Shams University. Matthew Reynolds develops and transfers technologies to increase productivity of wheat cropping systems worldwide, primarily focusing on less developed countries. At CIMMYT he’s helped create a new generation of advanced lines based on physiological breeding approaches to widen the wheat genepool, increase understanding of yield potential and adaptation of wheat to drought and heat stress, develop high throughput phenotyping methodologies and train other researchers. To further these goals, Reynold’s is developing global collaborations to tap into the expertise of plant scientists worldwide, such as the International Wheat Yield Partnership, and coordinates the formation of the Heat and Drought Wheat Improvement Consortium. He’s also leading the community of practice on crop modeling for the CGIAR Big Data platform. Reynolds has published widely in the area of crop physiology and genomics, and mentored graduate students through affiliations with universities worldwide.

Venkat Sharma, Ph.D. is the Dean and Professor of Biology, College of Science and Health at William Patterson University (WPU), Wayne, New Jersey 07470, since July 2017. Dean Sharma has over 31 years of teaching and research experience in Immunology, Nano-Immunology, Biochemistry of Leukemia, HIV-associated B-cell lymphomas, Biomedical Ethics and allied subjects. Dean Sharma has published extensively research papers, abstracts in research journals, and proceedings of various national and international conferences. . Dean Sharma continues to serve on the editorial board of the Journal of Complimentary and Alternate Medicine and has been the reviewer for several grant agencies and various research journals. He has also reviewed book chapters for Molecular Biology of the Gene, 5th Edition, by James D. Watson (Nobel Laureate) et al., and Fundamental & Applied Immunology. Dr. Sharma conducted research in transcription and cytokine biology as Research Scientist at the Arthur James Cancer Center, Ohio State University, Columbus. Dean Sharma is a recipient of numerous awards and honors. Few of them are Outstanding Faculty Advisor Award, UWF Student Activities Division, 2009, Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching and Advising Award, UWF 2008, President's Award for Leadership in Diversity, UWF 2006, Annual Distinguished Teaching Award, UWF Student Government Association 2005, and many more. Oscar is the Head of Flow Cytometry Unit at Centre for Genomic Regulation and Pompeu Fabra University in Barcelona, Spain, since 2001, where coordinates the assistance, supervision and training of one of the most advanced flow cytometry platforms in Europe. The Unit assists, supervise and advise more than 300 users from around 120 research groups in Spain and Europe. He supports the use of most flow cytometry applications, develops and implements new ones under scientific community needs. He received his Ph.D in Biochemistry from Autonomous University of Barcelona, Spain and he started to develop advanced Flow Cytometry applications during his first post-doc, at Cancer Research Institute (IRO) in Barcelona, Spain. Oscar has published relevant research papers in leading scientific journals, developing advanced Flow Cytometry methodologies and specific cell sorting. One of those was a relevant new methodological approach for hematopoietic stem cells detection and enumeration by Flow Cytometry with clinical implications. In 2012 he implemented flow karyotyping for chromosomes sorting and, currently is the unique Flow Cytometry Unit in Europe providing this special application as a service. Additionally, he recently combined this application with subsequent chromosome sequencing without amplification by using Oxford Nanopore technologies as a new methodology to assemble structurally very complex chromosomes. Currently, Oscar is focused in develop strategies to detect and isolate nanoparticles by Flow Cytometry. Recently, he has developed an approach for Single-Virus sorting for subsequent single-virus genomics. This methodology allows the possibility to explore the diversity of viruses in different ecosystems and to elucidate the global microbiome, in special, the global virosphere. He has also developed a new approach to identify and isolate Extracellular Vesicles (smaller than 100nm) by Flow Cytometry, to study cell communication and, based on Extracellular Vesicles’ cargo transfer, looking for biomarkers related with diseases. His Unit is becoming a reference site for advanced Flow Cytometry applications and sorting at the single-particle level. Oscar also participates, as membership, in alliances of excellence, as Core4life, an ”Excellence Alliance of Life Science Core Facilities in Europe”.

Dr. Bluth�s research interests covers a broad scope including immunology/inflammation, pancreatology, biomarker discovery, glycolipid based anti-inflammatory therapy, role of IgE in viral diseases and cancer, and blood derived stem cell propogation. Dr. Bluth is responsible for the education and training involved in the medical, basic science and translational research in the department. Hailin Su is currently serving as a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Department of Animal Science at Iowa State University, USA. After obtaining his Ph.D. degree in Genetics from Ocean University of China in 2013, he promptly joined the Animal Breeding and Genetics group at Iowa State University. His research efforts are primarily focused on advancing genomic evaluation programs to enhance the genetic improvement of animal populations. Notably, he is involved in projects related to genome-wide association studies (GWAS) and genomic prediction, utilizing single-marker analysis, DNA sequence information, and haplotypes. Hailin is also skilled in imputation and phasing of genomic data obtained from genotyping panels with varying densities, along with estimating genetic parameters and variance components. In collaboration with the National Beef Cattle Evaluation Consortium (NBCEC) of the United States, he has successfully implemented genomic selection technology into genetic evaluation programs for several US beef cattle breeds, working with the American Hereford Association and American Simmental Association.

Currently, Dr. Raghbir Athwal is working as a Professor in the department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the Temple University School of Medicine and Fels Institute for Cancer Research and Molecular Biology

The long term goal of our research is to elucidate molecular and genetic pathways involved in the regulation of normal cell growth leading to senescence, and their role in the development of cancer and cellular aging. Normal mammalian cells, unlike cancer cells, multiply only for a finite number of generations, and eventually enter a state of irreversible growth arrest, “the replicative senescence”. Applying a functional strategy, we have identified four cell senescence genes, three on chromosome 6q and one on 16q. The ectopic expression of one of the genes (SEN6A), cloned in a retroviral vector, induce senescence in ovarian and breast tumor cells, and lead to premature senescence in normal human fibroblasts. SEN6A is either rearranged or not expressed in many of the breast and ovarian tumor cells, suggesting that it plays a role in the etiology of breast and ovarian cancers. Further pursuit of our research includes delineation of mechanisms of SEN6A inactivation in tumor cells; and identifies signaling pathways involved in the functioning of SEN6A. Our preliminary observations revealed that SEN6A may be involved in DNA damage-repair response through a pathway related to the production of Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS). These finding evoked our interest to study genes associated with DNA damage – repair pathways in relation to cellular senescence. Signaling pathways that regulate cell senescence has gained significance as emerging targets for cancer therapy. In another project, we are investigating the molecular mechanisms of virus induced malignant transformation of human cells. These studies are driven by the hypothesis that immortalization of human cells requires the disruption of specific genes through viral integration. Using SV40 mediated immortalization of human fibroblasts as a model system; we have isolated a human DNA segment, corresponding to the viral insertion site. The introduction of this cloned human DNA segment, into SV40 immortalized cells, led to the restoration of normal cell growth pattern and senescence. Almost 100 percent of cervical cancer is positive for the presence of HPV virus.

Dr. Gaurisankar Sa holds the position of Senior Professor of Molecular Medicine at the Division of Molecular Medicine, Bose Institute, West Bengal, India. His extensive research interests encompass Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Cell Signaling, Cancer Biology, Cancer Stem Cells, Tumor Immunology, and Drug Development. Dr. Sa earned his PhD in Biochemistry from Calcutta University in 1989. Throughout his career, he has garnered several achievements both at the departmental level and in various research projects. With a rich academic background, Dr. Sa actively contributes to the scientific community by serving as an Associate Editor, Editorial Board Member, and Ad-hoc Reviewer for over 10 reputable scientific journals.

Kristine Danielyan became an Adjunct Lecturer at AUA. Her academic journey includes earning an MS in Biochemistry from YSU in 1999 and obtaining her PhD from NAS RA, supported by the DAAD funding program, in collaboration with the Philipps University of Marburg, Germany. Subsequently, Kristine completed her first and second Postdoctoral positions at the University of Pennsylvania and the University of Miami, both situated in the USA.

He is currently Principal Investigator who works at the College of Medicine and Center for Research and Development in Health Sciences, UANL, Mexico.

Chong Cheng is a DRS and AvH postdoc researcher affiliated with Freie Universität Berlin. He earned his Ph.D. degree under the guidance of Prof. Changsheng Zhao. Chong Cheng's research journey includes joint-training as a Ph.D. student at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, with Prof. Nicholas A. Kotov from 2013. Following the completion of his Ph.D., he became a DRS POINT and Alexander von Humboldt postdoctoral researcher in the Institute of Chemistry and Biochemistry, Freie Universität Berlin, under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Rainer Haag in 2015. Over the years, Chong Cheng has contributed significantly to the field, publishing more than 70 papers in esteemed chemical and biomaterial journals. His current research pursuits are centered around the design of low-dimensional nanomaterials for catalytic energy materials, biological electrodes, tissue regeneration, and stem-cell therapy.

Currently, Dr. Alexander Birbrair holds the position of a professor at the Department of Pathology, Federal University of Minas Gerais in Belo Horizonte, Brazil. He is an esteemed member of organizations such as the American Heart Association, Western NC Chapter of the Society for Neuroscience, and the International Society for Stem Cell Research. With an impressive track record, he has authored over thirty-three peer-reviewed papers, and several others are currently in progress.

As a result of my research, a gene marker for cold tolerance in sheep has been successfully developed and commercialized. The revenue generated from this innovation has been instrumental in funding further research to explore potential gene markers for animal breeding, thereby establishing a robust research platform. The Cold Tolerance Gene-Marker Test (CTGMT), a product of my research, is now one of six offerings provided by the Lincoln University Gene-Marker business. This pioneering business holds the distinction of being the first to introduce such technology to sheep breeders globally, leading to New Zealand Sheep breeders emerging as pioneers in leveraging gene markers for animal breeding.

Dr. Arcady A. Putilov is a renowned chronobiologist affiliated with the Research Institute for Molecular Biology and Biophysics in Novosibirsk, Russia. He holds two PhD degrees - the first in animal and human physiology from the Institute of Physiology, Novosibirsk, and the second in normal physiology from Siberian Medical University, Tomsk. Dr. Putilov's primary area of interest lies in investigating rhythmic processes across various fields, including physiology, biochemistry, zoology, psychology, and psychiatry. His research pursuits extend to sleep regulation and somnology, electrophysiology, individual differences, personality, evolutionary psychology, human ethology, and the history of science. With an impressive academic career spanning since 1973, he has authored over 200 publications, including articles in internationally recognized peer-reviewed journals such as Chronobiology International, Neuropsychopharmacology, Physiology & Behavior, Clinical EEG and Neuroscience, Clinical Neurophysiology

Michel Bourin has held the esteemed position of Professor of Pharmacology at the University of Nantes since 1985. He completed his pharmacist and medical training at Tours University and went on to earn degrees in neuropsychopharmacology, clinical pharmacology, and general pharmacology in Paris. His psychiatric training was accomplished in Nantes. Since 1988, Professor Bourin has served as the Head of Research for Neurobiology of Anxiety and Depression. Additionally, he has been an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Edmonton (Alberta) since 1995 and a visiting Professor at the University of Craiova (Romania). He has been honored with the title of Doctor Hononoris Causa by the University of Tartu (Estonia) and the University of Craiova (Romania). Currently, he practices as a Psychiatrist in a center for mentally handicapped adults in Montredon, near Narbonne. Over the course of his career, Professor Bourin has made significant contributions to the field of psychopharmacology, having published over 300 original papers and more than 250 educational and review papers in both French and English.
